“I'm against the picture of the artist as a starry-eyed visionary not really in control or knowing what he does. I'd almost prefer the word 'craftsman'. He's like one of those old-fashioned ship builders who conceived the build of the boat in their mind and after that touched every single piece that went into the boat.”
― William Golding
Yeah, but wire weaving is so worth the time. And, I might add, the chipped nails. This took me several hours. I'm not sure why I didn't take in-progress photos, next time I will.
This is made from a tutorial by wire goddess and super nice person Nicole Hanna (whose jewelry and tutorials you should definitely check out, and go Like her Facebook page while you're at it... if you like my stuff I guarantee you'll like hers). I've added a briolette and some extra swirls to her basic design because I cannot resist excessive loops.
It took me several hours but hey, I only chipped one fingernail in the process!
While I've got you here I'd like to wish my fellow moms out there a very happy Mother's Day and lots of hugs, phone calls, and hand-drawn pictures (...or cards, if they think they're too cool for fridge art... mine is 20 already, sheesh). Sleep in, you deserve it!
