Mystic Labradorite

Other names: Spectrolite
Labradorite is a feldspar that comes from Labrador, in Canada, though it can occur elsewhere, and some of the most spectacular spectrolite specimens (meaning gem quality labradorite) are from Finland. There is a legend that says that it is the imprisoned aurora borealis, and when you turn the stone in your hand, it's not unbelievable. The stone is a plain clear grey to dark grey except for the iridescent inclusions that can occur deep into the stone in colors ranging from blue to green to purple to red to gold and any combination. Sometimes this "labradorescence" occurs in slashes across the stone and sometimes in random splotches. It's most often seen when looking from a particular angle of the stone.
Labradorite's Energy
Labradorite is said to enhance intuition and perception. It is often considered moonstone's darker cousin and it too has a connection to moon energy, though it is more closely associated with the waning moon than waxing. It is a stone of positivity. The colors that are at play in the stone have an effect on the energy; if blue, it is a stone of communication and creativity. If green, a stone of connection. If red or gold, a stone of motivation. If purple, a stone of insight. Regardless of the color, you will not be able to see the color from all angles, and therefore it is a stone to help you explore what is hidden, or what may not have been obvious to you.
Element: Water
Zodiac Associations: Moon
Chakra Associations: Labradorite can have an effect on any of the chakras, or individual stones can resonate with particular ones, but above all it has a balancing, harmonizing effect. Multicolored spectrolite can have a strong vibration that can be strongly revealing in realms of motivation, emotion, creativity, or relationships.
