Hello! My name is Deanna Lack. If I have a superpower, it's reinventing myself again and again, being a learner, and trying new things.
But oddly enough, I keep coming back to making jewelry. I dabble. I paint in watercolor, or oil. But then I paint tiny things on stones and wire wrap them. I play with my horses, but then I come back to my bench and weave their patient love into something beautiful. I learn to make glass beads. Some things are easy to weave in.
But everything weaves in. Is that why chainmaille and wire fascinate me? Because the iterations are endless, because I can weave nearly anything into the creations? I'm not sure. All I know is, I have always said that animals are my gurus, the forest my cathedral, and art is my prayer, so this is more than just a business for me.
I strive to create jewelry and other items that are truly unique, an expression of the customer's lifestyle and loves. Each creation is made by hand with care; if it's chainmaille I painstakingly open and close each ring so that the closures are all but invisible and they won't snag on clothing or hair. I select my materials with care, whether easy-care, colorful aluminum, or elegant, understated sterling silver (see the Materials page for more info on the materials I use).
I carefully select the stones on an individual basis for my wire-wrapping; I try not to buy mass-produced stones, but rather stones made by artisans, and in the US whenever possible. I am learning to create glass focals for use in my creations and I am thoroughly enjoying that, too. From time to time I paint original artworks on stones and add wire. Whatever you find here, every item is hand crafted painstakingly and with love. I hope you like them too.
My restless innovation is reflected in my creations, too. So many of them are one of a kind because I can't stand to mass produce things; that would feel like a job. I'm more than a little bit of a nerd, and that comes out in my colorful chainmaille creations that are meant for gamers and cosplayers and anyone else who gets that part of me. And, I'm spiritually eclectic (Unitarian Universalist, which means the same thing), and draw from many religious traditions, and that shows in my creations from time to time, as well.
I live in Tennessee with my husband, two dogs and three cats, fish, and pet praying mantis. I also share my life with two beautiful horses, a BLM Mustang, Abbey, and Arabian, Storm, pictured above. At age 46 I started a whole new chapter of my life, returning to college; I'm working on a Psychology degree. I've recenetly quit my "day job" and am devoting myself full time to making beautiful things, sharing knowledge gained over the past 12 years, and my studies.
Thanks for joining me on this journey, even if only for a few moments.
